Schefflera aff. chapana is currently flushing new growth
We have a number of different Schefflera species in the garden, and at this time of year they are all pushing out 'little hands' of new growth. Schefflera aff. chapana has been with us for a couple of years and with the purple tinge to new growth creates quite an interesting plant.

Over the seating area in the Flemings show garden at RHS Chelsea are downlighters to maximise the gardens use. Subtle lighting of the wall behind the plantings give interest in the shadows cast by the plants.

Whilst adding lighting to the garden may seam daunting, the use of simple outdoor solar lights, can make the installation easy and safe.

Last year we had an enjoyable short city break in the Belgian capital of Brussels. As well as visting the usual tourist places (Atomium, The Grand Place and various museums) and had plenty of nice food (including waffles and chocolate of course), we also decided to pay a visit to the Botanical Gardens.  The above photo of various cycads in the Plant Palace, really caught our imagination.
